Øystein Pettersen is a retired Norwegian cross-country skier, television personality, and podcast host. Born on January 19, 1983, in Linderud, Pettersen competed professionally in cross-country skiing from 2002 to 2019, achieving six World Cup podiums and winning a gold medal with Petter Northug in the team sprint event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Pettersen was also one of three Norwegians to reach the six-man final in the Individual Sprint at the same Olympics. In 2020, he participated in the celebrity edition of the Norwegian TV show, 71° Nord, and in 2021, he was a contestant on Mesternes Mester.
Besides his achievements in winter sports, Pettersen hosts his own podcast, called Skipodden. The podcast is a comedic take on training and life, with a particular focus on winter sports.
After retiring from professional skiing in 2018 at the age of 35, Pettersen has been working as a coach and mentor for young skiers. He is also involved in various other activities, such as public speaking and charity work. His speeches offer insight into what sets successful people apart and what it takes to achieve top results. His talks are inspiring, motivating, and teach valuable lessons about the importance of self-belief and confidence.
